Forgotten Land

Forgotten Land: Journeys Among the Ghosts of East Prussia by Max Egremont

I was given this for my birthday and read it quickly. I’ve always been fascinated by the story of East Prussia, for its culture (Kant etc…), for the story of the Russian tanks arriving in 1945, and it’s general strangeness. The descriptions of a lost vanished land and the people who remembered it (with the forgotten museum in Bonn) were moving.

I also want to visit the restaurant in Berlin it mentioned.
